Jericho Resources, Inc. helps declare June as Fathers Make a Difference Month.  (May 20, 2009)

As a way of focusing on the impact fathers have on the development of their children, Jericho Resources, Inc. put forward an innovative idea—holding a month of activities and events statewide that would raise awareness and encourage responsible fatherhood.  In collaboration with nonprofit organizations, faith-based institutions, and state government officials, Jericho Resources, Inc. CEO William Martin prepared a draft proclamation and rationale for the Doyle Administration to consider declaring June as Fathers Make a Difference Month.  Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a proclamation making the declaration, the first of its kind in the state’s history.  Secretaries Reggie Bicha and Karen Timberlake of the Departments of Children and Families and Health Services, respectively, and their staffs are joining with organizations across the state—from fatherhood advocacy associations to professional sports teams—to raise awareness of the importance of fathers in the lives of their children.

Today, in Wisconsin, one out of every five households with children is without a father in the home.  On behalf of a coalition of faith- and community-based organizations led by Rosalie Manor Community & Family Services, Jericho Resources, Inc. wrote a top-ranked Responsible Fatherhood proposal to address fatherlessness.  As a result, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is investing $3 million in federal funding over a five-year period to provide fatherhood education and employment services across Southeastern Wisconsin.
